He pursued his passion for drama at the College of the Sequoias and Sacramento State College, where he honed his skills as a drama major. As a teenager, he began playing the guitar professionally, and his musical talents soon took him on a thrilling journey throughout Europe with the band The Young Californians in his twenties.
As a member of the iconic rock group The Grass Roots in the 1960s, Bratton's talents were showcased on numerous television shows and in the Doris Day movie, "With Six You Get Egg Roll."
