Courtenay's childhood was deeply influenced by the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains, a natural wonder that would later shape his artistic endeavors. His educational background is marked by a strong foundation in theatre, having studied at Vancouver's renowned Studio 58. Additionally, he further honed his craft by training in the art of clowning at the prestigious École Philippe Gaulier in France.
Throughout his illustrious stage career, Courtenay has had the privilege of performing on numerous international stages, embarking on extensive tours across Asia and Europe with his solo show 'The Pianist'. This captivating production, which pays homage to the likes of Charlie Chaplin and Mr. Bean, showcases Courtenay's impressive physical comedy skills as he attempts to master the piano.
Courtenay's versatility as a performer has also led him to take on two distinct clown roles in Cirque du Soleil's 'Dralion'. For a period of four years, he toured extensively with the company, performing in over 100 cities across North and Central America, Europe, Scandinavia, Asia, parts of Africa, and the Middle East.
In recent years, Courtenay has expanded his creative scope by working in television. In 2019, he was approached to develop the physical performance for AJ Carmichael in the second season of the popular Netflix series, The Umbrella Academy.
