Cody Mountain, a talented individual, was born and raised in the vibrant city of Cape Town, South Africa, to a family with a strong affinity for the arts. His parents, John Mountain, a Welsh businessman, and Michelle Mountain (nee Bruce),a former Miss South Africa, instilled in him a passion for the creative world.
As a child, Cody's interest in acting was evident, taking lead roles in various school productions. His primary education was spent in Cape Town, where he honed his skills and developed a love for the craft. He later moved to England, where he attended an exclusive private institution in the South West, focusing on academics and sports.
After completing his A-Levels, Cody initially pursued a path in Aerospace Engineering, but his passion for acting eventually took over. During his secondary education, he showcased his talent by participating in the LAFTAs and the National Shakespeare Schools Festival. Upon returning to South Africa after completing his education in England, Cody decided to enroll in 3 years of professional acting training at ACT Cape Town.
Throughout his training, Cody co-founded the Coffee Breaks improv troupe and regularly performed at the Armchair Theatre. He had the opportunity to share the stage with renowned improv groups, including The Long Shots, Improguise, and The Lusty Mannequins.
Cody's professional stage debut was as the lead, Kevin, in Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, a production written and directed by Nicola Hanekom. The show played to sold-out audiences at the Galloway Theatre and was later invited to the US Woordfees and Cape Town Fringe Festival.
Some of Cody's notable film credits include Ons Albertinia (2018),Cut-Out Girls (2018),which premiered at the Cape Town International Film Festival to critical acclaim, and Far From the Castle (2018),which won Best Screenplay at the LA Film Awards. Upcoming, Cody is set to star as the lead in a TV drama scheduled for release in 2019.
