Schrijber's debut feature, First Kill, which delves into the theme of addiction to killing, was selected for the prestigious IDFA Feature Length Competition in 2001. The film went on to win the Dutch Press Award and the Audience Award at the IFF Kosovo, solidifying Schrijber's reputation as a talented and innovative filmmaker.
Her sophomore effort, Bloody Mondays & Strawberry Pies, explores the theme of boredom, featuring an all-star cast including John Malkovich. The film was met with widespread critical acclaim, taking home six international awards, including the Golden Calf Grand Prize of The Netherlands. Bloody Mondays & Strawberry Pies was also selected as the official entry for the Oscars in 2008.
Schrijber's most recent documentary, How To Meet A Mermaid, is currently in the running for the IDFA 2016 EDA Award for Best Female-Directed Feature Length Documentary and will be competing in the IDFA International Feature Length Competition.
