Biography

Person biography:

Clayton Halsey was born into an international showbiz family, raised in Rome, Munich, and Los Angeles. He started working in film, television, and music from early childhood, performing as an actor, singer, and musician. He began his career as a go-fer on the television series "The Dukes of Hazzard" and the feature motion picture "Victory" directed by John Huston.

He has worked on both sides of the camera, as a writer, director, producer, assistant film editor, film editor, sound editor, assistant director, and production manager. Clayton attended Chapman University, where he studied film, theater, and English, and won the Outstanding 8mm Film Award as a freshman.

After completing his junior year, he moved back to Germany and worked as an assistant editor and assistant director on several projects. He then traveled to Europe as an assistant director on a German/French/Austrian co-production of the hit action-thriller TV series "Opération Mozart."

Before returning to Los Angeles, he wrote and directed a commercial for Cazal designer eye-wear, which ran in movie theaters and on television in Germany, Austria, England, and France. Back in L.A., he worked on many spec and freebie projects, including editing an unknown artist's music video, "Rico/Suave," which became a hit on MTV.

In 1992, he had a starring role in the movie "Bikini Squad," which he also edited, wrote, and performed much of the music. Over the next eight years, he worked as an editor for Playboy TV, cut 14 feature films, and edited countless trailers, promos, and EPKs.

In 2000, he became supervising editor on the first season of "Survivor," living on the island in Malaysia for the length of production. He has since edited countless network shows, including "Big Brother," and has also performed as the lead off-camera announcer.
