Biography

Claire Elizabeth Foy is a talented English actress born on April 16, 1984. She began her acting journey by studying at the Liverpool John Moores University and the Oxford School of Drama. Her professional debut was in the pilot of the supernatural comedy series Being Human in 2008. She soon made her stage debut at the Royal National Theatre and played the title role in the BBC One miniseries Little Dorrit. Foy's film debut came in the American historical fantasy drama Season of the Witch in 2011.

Foy's early career was marked by leading roles in television series such as The Promise and Crossbones. Her portrayal of Anne Boleyn in the miniseries Wolf Hall in 2015 earned her widespread praise. Her breakthrough role came when she played the young Queen Elizabeth II in the Netflix series The Crown, for which she won numerous awards, including a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

In addition to her work on The Crown, Foy has appeared in various films, including Unsane and First Man. Her performance in First Man earned her a nomination for the BAFTA and Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. Foy was born in Stockport, England, to a family of Irish descent.
