Biography

Ciarán Hinds, a renowned actor, was born on February 9, 1953, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as one of five children, with he being the only son. His father, a doctor, had hoped that Ciarán would follow in his footsteps, but fate had other plans.

It was his mother, Moya, an amateur actress, who played a significant role in inspiring Ciarán to pursue a career in acting. Despite initially enrolling in Law at Queens' University of Belfast, Ciarán left academia to train in acting at RADA.

Ciarán began his stage career at the Glasgow Citizens' Theatre, where he played a pantomime horse in the production of "Cinderella". He spent several years with the company, starring in numerous productions, including "Arsenic and Old Lace" and "Faust", where he played lead roles.

Throughout his stage career, Ciarán has worked with various companies, including The Field Day Company, and has undertaken numerous world tours. He has also had the privilege of working with the Royal Shakespeare Company, starring in productions such as "Richard III", where he played the title role.

Ciarán's film career began in 1981 with the movie "Excalibur", which boasted a talented cast, including Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne, and Patrick Stewart. In addition to his film work, Ciarán has amassed a significant number of television credits, playing iconic characters such as "Mr. Rochester" in "Jane Eyre" (1997) and "Captain Wentworth" in "Persuasion" (1995),which has increased his popularity and recognition.

Ciarán's personal life is relatively private, and he prefers to keep his relationships and family life out of the spotlight. He is in a long-term, committed relationship with French-Vietnamese actress Hélène Patarot, and they have a daughter together, living in Paris.

With his exceptional talent and dedication to his craft, Ciarán Hinds is in high demand, and his reputation as a quality, professional actor is sure to keep him busy for as long as he chooses.
