Christopher Neil is a multifaceted British artist, boasting a remarkable career as an actor, record producer, songwriter, and singer.
As a record producer, Neil has worked with an impressive array of renowned artists, including Rod Stewart, Cher, Bonnie Tyler, Céline Dion, a-ha, Amazulu, Dollar, Edyta Górniak, Gerry Rafferty, Jennifer Rush, José Carreras, Leo Sayer, Marillion, Mike + The Mechanics, Morten Harket, Paul Carrack, Paul Young, Shakin' Stevens, Sheena Easton, The Moody Blues, and Toyah Willcox.
Neil's impressive songwriting skills are exemplified by his 1973 single 'Help It Along', which was performed by Cliff Richard and finished third in the BBC's annual A Song for Europe contest. The track went on to become a hit single later that year for Cliff and was also the title track of his 1974 live album.
Prior to his successful career as a record producer, Neil began his music journey in the mid-sixties as the lead singer of the Manchester-based group The Chuckles. In 1972, he released his debut solo album 'Where I Belong'.
Throughout the 1970s, Neil also pursued a career in acting, taking on notable roles such as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar and Ginger in Leaping Ginger at the Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester. In 1976, Neil starred in the British TV series Rock Follies, and in 1977 and 1978, he took on the lead roles in the two 'Adventures of...' British comedy films: Adventures of a Private Eye (1977) and Adventures of a Plumber's Mate (1978). Notably, he also wrote and sang the theme songs for both films.
