Christopher Lambert's early life was marked by a significant relocation, as his family departed the United States when he was just two years old. His father's role as a United Nations diplomat in Switzerland led to a childhood spent in Geneva, where Lambert was educated at prestigious private boarding schools.
At the tender age of 12, Lambert discovered his passion for the performing arts, and his subsequent appearance in a play sparked a lasting interest in the craft. This inspiration led him to pursue a two-year program at the renowned Paris Conservatoire.
Following his time at the conservatory, Lambert began to secure small roles in French films, starting in 1980. However, it was his portrayal of the iconic title character in Warner Bros.' Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984) that truly cemented his status as a rising star. Alongside a talented cast that included Ian Holm, James Fox, and Ralph Richardson in his final film performance, Lambert brought a sense of authenticity to the role, remaining faithful to Edgar Rice Burroughs' original story in the first half of the film.
Two years later, Lambert took on the legendary role of Connor MacLeod, the immortal Highlander, in Gregory Widen's 1986 film. This character would go on to appear in subsequent installments, including Highlander II: The Quickening (1991) and Highlander: The Final Dimension (1994).
In recent years, Lambert has expanded his creative horizons by taking on a producing role, while continuing to act in a range of action-adventure films.
