Christopher J. Byrne is a director with a multifaceted background in the entertainment industry. A lifelong carpenter, he has also been a proud member of the Directors Guild of Canada for 25 years, leveraging his skills and expertise to advance his career.
Byrne's passion for music led him to join the American Federation of Musicians as a composer for 20 years, further diversifying his creative pursuits. Additionally, he has been a member of the Directors Guild of America for 6 years, solidifying his position within the industry.
Byrne's academic credentials are equally impressive, holding an Honours degree in History from York University, where he initially trained to become a high school teacher. However, his true calling lay in filmmaking, and he began his career with the Directors Guild of Canada as a Trainee Assistant Director on Norman Jewison's The REZ, shot in northern Ontario.
Within five years, Byrne rose through the Canadian film industry ranks to become First Assistant Director on the Disney/Alliance Atlantis feature Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister (Luxembourg, 1999),showcasing his impressive range and adaptability as a filmmaker.
