Christie Peruso embarked on a remarkable journey in the world of theatre, commencing her career in New York City as a teenager. Her dedication and talent eventually led to her induction into the prestigious Actor's Equity Association at the tender age of 19. However, her artistic pursuits took a temporary hiatus in 2011 when she was scouted by an international modeling agency in Milan, and she went on to model across various continents, including Europe, Asia, Africa, and the United States, for a period of five years.
Upon her return to acting in 2016, Christie swiftly secured roles in several prominent productions, including Of Kings and Prophets (ABC),A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits (Warner Bros),Blood Drive (SyFy),and Tremors 6 (Universal Pictures),showcasing her versatility and range as a performer.
Christie divides her time between New York, Milan, and Cape Town, where she has had the opportunity to work on various projects. Her experiences in Cape Town led to her membership in the South African Guild of Actors and Sisters Working in Film & Television (SWIFT). In 2018, Christie was honored to be invited to attend the International Film and TV Dialogue in Johannesburg, where she actively contributed to the discussion on improving working conditions for women in the film, television, and screen-based industries.
In recent years, Christie has been an ardent advocate for female screenwriters, and she is proud to be one herself. She is a bilingual writer, proficient in both English and Italian, and is currently developing an Italian family comedy. Her dedication to the cause of women in the film industry has seen her championing improvements at both the Cape Town Film Festival and the Women's Initiative hosted by the Motion Picture Association.
