Christian Dominique Borle was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, to a father who was a professor of physiology at the University of Pittsburgh. He attended Shady Side Academy, where he discovered his passion for acting after auditioning for a school play. Borle went on to graduate from the School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon University in 1995 and moved to New York City, where he began his career in the entertainment industry.
Borle's early jobs included acting as an elf at Macy's Santaland, as well as appearing in various stage productions such as "The Who's Tommy", "West Side Story", and "Footloose". He made his Broadway debut in 2000 as an ensemble member in "Jesus Christ Superstar" and later became a member of the original Broadway cast of "Monty Python's Spamalot", earning a nomination for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical and a Broadway Audience Award for Favorite Featured Actor in a Musical.
In 2007, Borle starred as Emmett Forrest in "Legally Blonde: The Musical", earning his first Tony Awards nomination. He won his first Tony Award in 2011 for his role as Black Stache in "Peter and the Starcatcher". From 2012 to 2013, he played one of the main characters in the TV series "Smash". Borle has continued to appear in various musical theatre productions, including "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Little Shop of Horrors", and "Into the Woods".
Borle was married to Sutton Foster from 2006 to 2009. He has been recognized for his work with multiple Tony Award nominations and wins, showcasing his talent and dedication to the world of musical theatre.
