Christa Pitts was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Robert C. Aebersold, a self-employed engineer, and Carol Aebersold, a former music teacher and stay-at-home mom. She grew up in humble circumstances with her twin sister, Chanda A. Bell, and younger brother Brandon, in the rural suburbs of Atlanta.
Pitts is the Co-CEO of CCA and B, LLC, a consumer product and entertainment company that has produced the bestselling title, The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition. She oversees the day-to-day operations and business strategy for the company, which has expanded to include animated stories through Scout Elf Productions.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, Pitts worked as a program host for QVC, where she was known as the "girl next door" and worked with successful entrepreneurs such as Sara Blakely, Joan Rivers, Laura Geller, and Lori Greiner. She left QVC in 2005 to help her family market and sell their self-published book, The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition.
Pitts used her own savings to fund the initial order of 5,000 units of the book, and by the end of 2005, they had sold out. By 2008, the company had progressed to placing products in major retailers, toy stores, and bookstore chains. The Elf on the Shelf has since become a timeless Christmas tradition, topping best-seller lists year after year.
In addition to her work with CCA and B, LLC, Pitts is also an Executive Producer for Scout Elf Productions, which has released several animated specials, including Elf Pets: Santa's St. Bernards Save Christmas and An Elf's Story. She has also served as an Executive Producer for several other projects, including An Elf's Story, which debuted on CBS and has been viewed by over 24 million people.
Pitts has been recognized for her entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen, and has spoken publicly about the importance of perseverance and determination in achieving success.
