Chris von Hoffmann, a native of New Jersey, embarked on a journey in the world of performing arts by studying at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He honed his craft by taking on various Off-Broadway roles before making the bold decision to relocate to Los Angeles and dedicate himself fully to the art of filmmaking and screenwriting.
Starting from the ground up, Chris wrote, produced, and directed several short films to refine his skills. His tireless efforts eventually led to the creation of his feature-length debut, Drifter, in 2016. Despite being made on a minuscule budget, Chris's unique visual style and confidence behind the camera garnered immediate attention from industry leaders. Drifter's success was swift and substantial, as it was picked up for distribution by Alameda Entertainment and later licensed to Netflix and other platforms for a sum well exceeding its original budget.
Following the remarkable debut of Drifter, Chris was signed by the prestigious Creative Artists Agency and Grandview Management. With his newfound team, Chris set his sights on his follow-up film, Monster Party, a horror/thriller/comedy featuring an all-star cast, including Erin Moriarty, Robin Tunney, and Lance Reddick. The film secured worldwide distribution through RLJE Entertainment in 2018 and later became a Shudder Exclusive in 2019. Monster Party received widespread critical acclaim, with The Hollywood Reporter praising it as "the sort of extreme genre exercise that separates real fans from mere dilettantes."
In 2022, Chris released his latest film, Devil's Workshop, which stars Emile Hirsch, Radha Mitchell, and Timothy Granaderos. The film was released in select theaters and worldwide digital platforms via Lionsgate. Yahoo described Devil's Workshop as "unpredictable from the jump," showcasing Chris's ability to craft unique and captivating stories.
Currently, Chris resides in Manhattan and is actively developing three new feature films.
