Christopher Tempel's fascination with creating moving images began at a young age, when his mother taught him the art of drawing flip-books. This early introduction sparked a lifelong passion, and Tempel went on to produce numerous short films with his family's VHS camcorder.
As he entered high school, Tempel discovered the world of digital filmmaking, which further fueled his creativity. After completing his education, he established a production company and produced over forty short films and various promotional projects.
In 2007, Tempel took the leap and shot his first feature-length film, "Wulf", on a shoestring budget of just $600. Two years later, he released his second feature, "Leap", shot on a consumer MiniDV camcorder. These early films served as a training ground for feature filmmaking, and in 2010, Tempel shot "Leap: Rise of the Beast" for a modest budget of $2000. Notably, this film was the first to be shot on a Canon Rebel T2i, using only the kit lens.
Tempel's skills were in high demand, and he went on to work as the VFX supervisor on a documentary series, "The Days of Noah".
Today, Christopher Tempel is the proud owner of Pyro Studios, a full-service production company based in northwest Montana. With clients from coast to coast, Tempel has established himself as a talented and versatile filmmaker. In recent years, he has revisited his "Leap" series, releasing "Leap: A Tale of the Last Days" in 2023.
When he's not behind the camera, Tempel enjoys exploring the great outdoors with his wife and dog, practicing parkour, and pursuing his hobbies. He holds a black belt in American Kenpo and is a licensed skydiver, further demonstrating his adventurous spirit.
