Chris Chan Lee is a renowned Korean American filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California. He is a proud alumnus of the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, where he honed his craft and laid the foundation for his future success.
Lee's directorial debut, the coming-of-age drama-comedy "Yellow", premiered at the 1997 CAAMFest Film Festival and went on to win numerous accolades, including the Gold Carp 1st Place Audience Award for Best Feature Film and the Golden Reel Award for Best Independent Feature Film. The film's limited national theatrical release was a significant milestone in Asian American filmmaking, featuring early performances by John Cho and Jason Tobin.
Following the success of "Yellow", Lee spent a year directing English-language prime time television at MediaCorp Studios in Singapore for Channel 5. His work on the drama series "Growing Up" earned a Best Drama nomination at the Asian Television Awards. During this period, his political thriller screenplay "Revolution of One" was optioned by Wong Kar Wai's Jet Tone Films.
Lee's impressive resume also includes a 2004 Fellowship from the Tribeca Film Festival All Access Program and a two-time Fellowship from the Film Independent Fast Track Program.
Lee's second feature film, the noir thriller "Undoing", was set in LA's Koreatown and premiered at the 2006 Los Angeles Film Festival. The film received a theatrical release in NYC, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and was nominated for Best Feature Film.
In addition to his work behind the camera, Lee has also edited and produced films, including the dark thriller "Jasmine", directed by Dax Phelan and filmed in Hong Kong. "Jasmine" has won over 100 awards, including numerous "Best Feature Film" awards and nine wins and nine nominations for Lee for Best Editing.
