Biography

Chosuke Ikariya, a man of many talents, was born in Tokyo in 1931. Initially, he worked in a factory, but his true passion lay in the arts. He pursued his dream of becoming an artist, and his dedication paid off when he learned to play the double bass.

Ikariya's musical talents soon earned him a spot in various bands, including an amateur Hawaiian music group, a country and western band, and the renowned "The Drifters," where he performed from 1962 to 1985. As a member of "The Drifters," Ikariya brought a unique brand of slapstick comedy and lowbrow humor to the group, making him a standout performer.

Standing tall at an impressive height, Ikariya was impossible to ignore. His antics often drew attention, and it was only a matter of time before talent scouts discovered his acting abilities. Although initially uncertain about his talents, Ikariya eventually took the leap and found success as an actor.

Ikariya's most notable role is perhaps that of the Crying Demon, who haunts a young Akira Kurosawa in the 1990 film "Dreams." In addition to his work in "Dreams," Ikariya received a Japanese Best Supporting Award for his performance in "Bayside Shakedown" (1998).

Ikariya's life was marked by both artistic and personal triumphs. He passed away in 2004 at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire and entertain audiences to this day.
