Biography

Chloë Sevigny is a renowned actress, director, and Golden Globe-winning artist who has made a significant impact in the film, television, and theatre industries. Throughout her career, she has worked with innovative and revolutionary filmmakers and artists, including Lars von Trier, Jim Jarmusch, Mary Harron, David Fincher, and Whit Stillman, and Luca Guadagnino.

Currently, Sevigny can be seen in the HBO/Sky series We Are Who We Are, a coming-of-age drama about a group of American soldiers on an Army base in Italy, created, written, and directed by Luca Guadagnino. The series features an ensemble cast, including Alice Braga, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Kid Cudi.

In 2021, Sevigny will begin production on the second season of the Netflix series Russian Doll, in which she will play a pivotal role as Leonora, the mother of Natasha Lyonne's character Nadia. The first season of Russian Doll was a critical and commercial success, and the second season will delve into the origin story of Sevigny's character.

Sevigny's recent film credits include Queen and Slim, directed by Melina Matsoukas and written by Lena Waithe, in which she plays a pivotal role in deciding the fate of the two main characters, a black man and black woman on the run after killing a police officer in self-defense. The film premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival and was released in the US by Universal in November 2019.

On the big screen, Sevigny has also appeared in films such as The Dead Don't Die, directed by Jim Jarmusch, and Lizzie, which premiered at Sundance 2018 and was released by Roadside Attractions in September 2018. She has also co-starred with Steve Buscemi in Lean On Pete, directed by Andrew Haigh, and has appeared in films such as Golden Exits, The Dinner, and Beatriz at Dinner.

As a director, Sevigny has made a name for herself with her critically acclaimed short films, including White Echo, which premiered in competition at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, and Kitty, which debuted at Cannes in 2016. Her second short, Carmen, was equally successful at the 2017 Venice Film Festival.

In addition to her work in film and television, Sevigny has also made a mark on the stage, appearing in productions such as Downtown Race Riot, What the Butler Saw, and Hazelwood Junior High.
