Chiquinquira Delgado, also known as "Chiqui", is a renowned Venezuelan actress and TV host/presenter. Born in Maracaibo, she developed her artistic career in Caracas. Her beauty, elegance, and intelligence led her to participate in the Miss Venezuela pageant in 1990, where she was the first runner-up.
She went on to become one of Venezuela's top runway models and later a television personality. Her first important job was as host on TV Time in 1996. By 1993, she was the face and image of Venevisión, the #1 network in her country, and continued to be so for many years, becoming one of the most charismatic personalities in show business.
She started her career in major soap operas in 1999 with the melodrama Calypso. By 2000, she was designated the image of Sony Entertainment Television. She played leading roles in the soap operas Cosita rica and Mambo y canela, among others. She has also been a leading personality in music videos for major International Latin singers Luis Miguel and Alejandro Fernández.
Important brands in the beauty industry have selected Chiqui to represent their image, such as Pantene, L'Oreal, Wen, and Nivea. Other brands she has worked with are Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Zulia Lottery, and Occidental Bank. She is also an entrepreneur, with a line of beauty products called "Chiqui" that have become a household name in Venezuela.
Having achieved success in her native country, in 2010, she traveled to the United States when she was hired by Univision, the #1 Hispanic TV network, as host of the show Mira Quién Baila. She has also become the host of Univision's #1-rated show, Nuestra Belleza Latina. She has hosted such shows as Sábado gigante and El gordo y la flaca.
In addition, she has covered the "Night of Stars" live from Las Vegas, and for four years has been the "red carpet" host for the Latin Grammys. In 2012, she crossed over to mainstream broadcasting when she was invited to work on CBS' Entertainment Tonight, interviewing major international stars such as Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, and Sofía Vergara.
In 2012, she had a role as an Hispanic newscaster in one of the most successful and prestigious shows in US television history, 30 Rock. The next year, she worked on the sitcom HitStreak. In 2014, she was asked to collaborate with noted fashion designer David Lerner to develop her own fashion line, "Chiqui Delgado".
Chiqui has also involved herself in public-service work, aiding such charities as St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Telecorazón, Amigos for Kids, and Socievent. She has hosted major events for such charities as Telethon USA and Telethon Mexico.
