Biography

Francis Dayle Hearn, affectionately known as "Chick," was a legendary voice in Los Angeles, renowned for his iconic play-by-play commentary of the Los Angeles Lakers from 1960 to 2002.

As the voice of the Lakers, Hearn was celebrated for his quick-witted remarks and lightning-fast reactions to the on-court action, making him almost as recognizable as some of the greatest Laker players of all time, including Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Prior to his Lakers tenure, Hearn migrated to Los Angeles in 1956, where he began his radio and television career, covering a variety of sports. He also hosted the popular program "Bowling for Dollars" for an extended period.

In addition to his Lakers duties, Hearn lent his play-by-play expertise to other sports, including the 1992 Summer Olympics.
