Cheng Gwan-Min, a renowned individual, was born in the year 1917 in the province of Guangdong, China. Initially, he pursued a career in the performing arts, specifically in the realm of theatre, where he worked as both an actor and a broadcaster.
It was in the year 1936 that Cheng made his cinematic debut, starring in the film "The Three-Day Massacre in Guangzhou", which was set in the city of Guangzhou. Throughout his illustrious career, which spanned over half a century, Cheng had the privilege of appearing in more than 200 films, with the majority of them being produced in the Cantonese language.
Cheng was a masterful imitator of singers from both the East and the West, and his talents extended beyond the realm of film to include the production of numerous albums. He was also an accomplished performer of Cantonese opera and musicals, earning him the esteemed nickname "Elvis Presley of the East".
From the 1970s onwards, Cheng became a beloved host of the classic variety show "Enjoy Yourself Tonight", where he would occasionally make guest appearances in films. Sadly, Cheng's life came to a close in the year 1995.
