Charlotte Elizabeth Cornwell, a talented Londoner, was born on April 26, 1949, as the younger half-sister of renowned novelist John le Carré, whose real name was David Cornwell. Interestingly, le Carré's novel, "The Little Drummer Girl," featured a leading character inspired by Charlotte, although the film adaptation starred Diane Keaton instead, much to le Carré's dismay.
Charlotte pursued her passion for drama at London's prestigious Webber Douglas School, marking the beginning of her professional journey. She made her debut at the esteemed Bristol Old Vic and went on to perform with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre, both in the UK and internationally.
For many, Charlotte will be fondly remembered for her role in the popular 1970s television series "Rock Follies," where she was an original member of the singing group "The Little Ladies." The series spawned accompanying soundtrack albums, further solidifying her connection to the project.
In addition to her acting career, Charlotte taught acting at the University of Southern California (USC) before returning to England, where she sadly passed away at the age of 71 in 2021 due to cancer.
