Biography

Charles Napier was born on April 12, 1936, in the small community of Mt. Union, situated near Scottsville, within the boundaries of Allen County, Kentucky, to Linus Pitts Napier, a tobacco farmer and postman, and his wife, Sara. As a youth, Napier attended public school in Scottsville, where he received his primary and secondary education. Upon graduating from high school, he made the decision to enlist in the Army in 1954, commencing his military career. During his time in the Army, he rose to the rank of E-5 (Sergeant),serving as a company clerk with Company A, 511th Airborne Infantry, 11th Airborne Division.
