A'Drewana Chane't Johnson, born in Dallas, Texas, graduated with honors from Duncanville High School and was awarded a talent scholarship to Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where she earned her BFA in Theatre Arts and worked multiple seasons with the Shakespeare Festival of Dallas.
She furthered her education by achieving an MFA in Theatre Arts from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) in 2001, earning the prestigious San Diego Fellow award in the same year. This milestone was accompanied by her selection for the role of Lena in the play "Boesman and Lena" written and directed by Athol Fugard, which remains her most cherished role to date.
Chane't's creative influences include Whoopi Goldberg, Anna Deavere Smith, Carole Burnett, Nell Carter, Morgan Freeman, Louis Gossett Jr., and her favorite comedian, Jonathan Winters. Her work has expanded to include directing and producing, with notable projects including the web shows "Nurses Who Kill..." and "Trailerate," launched in 2010.
In 2011, Chane't released two short films, "Texas Toast" and "Pony Man," and is currently in development to direct and produce two fantasy/horror feature films, "The Dark Sisters" and "Anomaly," slated for release in 2012.
