Celia Rowlson-Hall, a talented individual, graduated from the prestigious North Carolina School of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Modern Dance and Choreography. With a strong foundation in dance, she went on to pursue a successful career as a choreographer in the film and television industry, collaborating with renowned directors such as Gaspar Noe and Lena Dunham.
Her impressive portfolio includes choreographing VMA award-winning music videos for notable bands like MGMT, Chromeo, and Sleigh Bells. Moreover, she has written and directed over fifty short films and videos, earning numerous accolades, including an Emmy nomination, and showcasing her work at prominent festivals like SXSW, SFIFF, Rooftop Films, Glasgow, French and German television, and art fairs such as the Armory Show, Performa, and the New Museum.
Celia's debut film, MA, marked a significant milestone in her career, as she wrote, directed, and starred in the project, which premiered at the 2015 Venice Film Festival. Her innovative approach to filmmaking has earned her recognition as one of the 25 New Faces to watch for Filmmaker Magazine in 2015. The magazine praised her unique style, stating that it "folds one art form into another" and "allows her to employ her body as a storytelling vehicle," describing her work as "transfixing."
