Biography

Celia Imrie is a highly acclaimed and accomplished actress, with a plethora of prestigious awards and nominations to her name. She is an Olivier Award winner, a Screen Actors Guild nominee, and a recipient of the Variety magazine 'Icon' and Women in Film and Television 'Lifetime Achievement award' designations. In addition to her remarkable film, television, and theatre work, Celia is also a successful author, having written several best-selling books for The Sunday Times.

Celia's extensive filmography includes a wide range of critically acclaimed and popular titles, such as The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel film series, The Bridget Jones film series, Calendar Girls, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, Finding Your Feet, and Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again. Her most recent film credits include Mrs. Green in the independent horror feature Malevolent and Joan Erikson in Year By The Sea.

Television roles have also been a significant part of Celia's career, with notable performances in Pamela Adlon's semi-autobiographical comedy Better Things, Sky Atlantic and Showtime's Patrick Melrose, Barbara Vine's A Dark Adapted Eye, and the unconventional comedy Hang Ups. In each of these roles, Celia has brought her unique talent and versatility to the screen.

Celia's extensive list of theatre credits is equally impressive, with performances at many of London's major theatres. Some of her most notable roles include Tony and Olivier Award-winning comedy Noises Off at The Old Vic Theatre, Acorn Antiques: The Musical! at Theatre Royal Haymarket, for which she won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 2005, The Sea at The National Theatre opposite Dame Judi Dench, and the universally acclaimed production of King Lear at the Old Vic in 2016.

Celia Imrie will soon take to the stage once again in Party Time/Celebration, the sixth double-bill of one-act plays in The Jamie Lloyd Company's Pinter at the Pinter Season, commemorating the 10th anniversary of Nobel Prize-winning writer Harold Pinter.
