Catherine Tresa Alexander, also known as Catherine Tresa, is a talented model and actress who has made a significant impact in the Telugu and Tamil film industries. With a career spanning over a decade, she has acted in more than 20 South Indian films, showcasing her versatility and range as an actress.
Born and raised in Dubai, Tresa moved to India after completing her 12th grade and went on to study at St. Joseph's College in Bangalore. She developed a range of skills, including piano, singing, debating, and ice skating, which would later serve her well in her acting career. Tresa began her modeling career at the tender age of 14, participating in numerous ramp shows with fashion stylist Prasad Bidapa.
Tresa made her film debut with the Kannada movie Shankar IPS in 2010, followed by her Malayalam film debut in The Thriller in the same year. She continued to work in the industry, appearing in films such as Uppukandam Brothers Back in Action, Godfather, Chammak Challo, and Iddarammayilatho.
In 2013, Tresa acted in Paisa, Madras, and Erra Buss, and in 2014, she appeared in Rudhramadevi and Kanithan. Her role as Annambika in Rudhramadevi earned her critical acclaim, and she went on to star in Kathakali, Sarrainodu, and Kadamban.
Tresa continued to impress audiences with her performances in Goutham Nanda, Nene Raju Nene Mantri, and Kathanayagan. She also made a special appearance in the song "A for Apple" in Jaya Janaki Nayaka. In 2018, she played the role of Hema in Kalakalappu 2.
In 2019, Tresa starred in Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven, Neeya 2, and Aruvam. The following year, she acted in World Famous Lover, followed by Bhala Thandanana, Bimbisara, and Macherla Niyojakavargam. In 2023, she played the role of Dr. Nithya in Waltair Veerayya.
Throughout her career, Tresa has received numerous awards and nominations for her performances. Her breakthrough role in Madras earned her the Best Debut Actress award at the Ananda Vikatan Cinema Awards, Vijay Awards, and Edison Awards, as well as the Best Female Debut - Tamil award at the 62nd Filmfare Awards South and 4th South Indian International Movie Awards in 2015.
