Catherine Dao's remarkable journey began at the tender age of 15, when she, along with her parents, took the oath to become a United States citizen in the vibrant city of New York. Her affinity for films dates back to her earliest memories, and at 16, she had a life-changing experience watching the black and white version of Madam Curie, which sparked her ambition to become a Chemist.
Fast forward to 1990, Catherine earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Southern California, a backup plan that would eventually converge with her passion for films. She realized that science is essential to understanding the world, and thus, she discovered a way to combine her love for chemistry with her interest in the film industry by becoming a high-level science consultant.
As she navigated her career, Catherine's passion for acting grew, and she began to write theatrical screenplays that incorporated science, seamlessly integrating chemistry knowledge for her audience. Throughout her journey, she maintained a steady career as an actress, balancing her dual passions with remarkable ease.
Catherine's life took a significant turn in 2015, when she battled breast cancer and emerged victorious, becoming cancer-free. This experience reinforced her determination to create films that promote love, kindness, and positivity, while still showcasing the importance of science. Her latest endeavor, the dark thriller "Symphoria," was released on Amazon Prime at the end of 2021, offering an entertaining experience that may also inadvertently impart valuable science knowledge and application.
