Casey Nicholas Price is an American filmmaker with a lifelong passion for the craft. Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, he was inspired by comic books, cartoons, TV shows, and movies from a young age. His parents, Mary and Ronald Price, currently reside in Alabama.
Growing up, Casey was fascinated by the work of popular directors, actors, and stories, which ultimately led him to land his first opportunity to work on a film set for the studio feature film Cherry Falls in 2000. He then moved to San Diego, California, where he worked part-time, gained experience on set, studied acting, and earned his degree in film production from San Diego State University (SDSU).
During his time at SDSU, Casey was a pioneer for the university's first film society, serving as Vice President for the society's inaugural year. He also taught youths aged 7-12 the basics of filmmaking and stop-motion filmmaking at private performing arts studios.
Casey has written, directed, produced, and first assistant directed a diverse range of projects that have been showcased at film festivals and theaters worldwide. His short horror film, The Apparition, which he co-created, produced, first assistant directed, and acted in, was selected for the Short Film Corner at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in 2014.
As a freelancer, Casey continues to hone his skills and master his craft, working on film projects between Los Angeles, San Diego, and other locations. He is eager to direct his first feature film in the near future and will continue to excel as a first assistant director in the meantime.
Casey is a strong advocate for the use of film over digital and upholds his core values of hard work, effective communication, and positive reinforcement. He also dedicates his time to volunteering at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, every year.
