Carol Decker, the talented musician and songwriter, co-founded the pop/rock band T'Pau in 1986 with guitarist and fellow songwriter Ron Rogers. The duo's debut album, "Bridge of Spies", released in 1987, was a massive success, spawning six hit singles, including the chart-topping smash "China In Your Hand", and selling over 1.2 million copies in the UK alone, earning quadruple platinum certification.
After the release of two more albums, "Rage" and "The Promise", the band went on hiatus in 1991. Carol took a break from the music scene, making occasional guest appearances on other artists' albums. During this period, she met her future husband, Richard Coates, around 1993.
In 1997, Carol decided to revive T'Pau with a new lineup and the band embarked on a summer tour. Encouraged by the positive response, they began working on a new album. In June 1998, Carol gave birth to her first child, but just three weeks later, she made a triumphant return to the stage, performing at the Princess Diana Tribute Concert.
Later that year, in September 1998, Carol released T'Pau's latest album, "Red", on her own Gnatfish record label. The band has since maintained a steady touring schedule, with Carol continuing to perform with the group.
Tragedy struck in 2001 when Carol suffered a miscarriage. However, she eventually became pregnant again, but complications arose during her third trimester. In August 2002, she gave birth to her second child via emergency caesarian section, requiring four blood transfusions. Thankfully, she made a full recovery.
Most recently, Carol has been performing on the "Here & Now" 80s revival tour. T'Pau's first official live album was released on December 20, 2003.
