Carmen has had a remarkable career spanning over two and a half decades, with an impressive array of prominent roles in numerous fan-favorite television shows.
Her journey began in local theatre in Vancouver, where she swiftly gained recognition with a couple of Jesse nominations. This led to a slew of guest-starring and recurring roles on various popular TV series. From 2004 to 2005, Carmen played the lead role of "Simone" in the Vancouver-based "Godiva's," earning her a nomination for the prestigious Leo Award for her captivating performance as the enigmatic and alluring bartender.
Carmen's subsequent role as "Rebecca" in the Canadian independent feature film "Unnatural & Accidental" garnered her the Women in Film & Video Artistic Merit Award at the Vancouver Film Festival in 2006. She then took on the lead role of "Leona Stoney" for five seasons in APTN's multi-award-winning series "Blackstone," earning her a 2011 Leo Award and a Gemini nomination, as well as additional Leo nominations in 2012, 2015, and 2016. Furthermore, she won the 2014 and 2016 Leo Awards for her outstanding performance.
Carmen's impressive resume also includes her portrayal of "Loreen Cassway" for three seasons in CBC's "Arctic Air," for which she received a 2012 Leo Award nomination. Her recent work includes recurring roles in "Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce," "Arrow," "iZombie," "Chesapeake Shores," and the Fox series "Second Chance," in which she played the pivotal role of "Special Agent in Charge Sue Adair."
In 2018, Carmen embarked on an exciting new journey, starring as the fierce warrior "Wahkatiiosta" in Starz's hit TV series "Outlander" Season 4, alongside Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe. Following this, she took on the leading role of "Susan Russel" in the independent feature film "Rustic Oracle," a powerful story about a Mohawk woman searching for her missing teenage daughter amidst racism, ignorance, and indifference in the years following the Oka crisis. With multiple awards from film festivals, including two for Carmen, "Rustic Oracle" is set for a limited theatrical release across Canada soon.
In 2020, Carmen guest-starred in CTV's 4th season of "Cardinal" as "Shiela Gagne," MLA and mysterious wife to district attorney Robert Quillen, as well as recurring as "Hannah Gruen" on The CW's "Nancy Drew."
Throughout her illustrious career, Carmen has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the 2013 UBCP/ACTRA Awards' "Lorena Gale Woman of Distinction Award" for her significant contributions to the empowerment of women in the Vancouver film industry.
