Born on October 18, 1990, in Valparaiso, Indiana, Schroeder began her career in the entertainment industry at a tender age. She started with print work at three and commercials at six.
Schroeder's breakout role came in 1997 when she was cast as Serena Baldwin in the spin-off of General Hospital, Port Charles. She impressively performed in 480 episodes over a six-year period, earning two Young Artist Award nominations in 1999 and 2000. Additionally, she received a nomination for a Young Star Award in 1999.
In 2002, Schroeder landed the role of Melina Bianco in The Disney Channel's Lizzie McGuire, a character known for her manipulative yet lovable nature. She also appeared in The Lizzie McGuire Movie in 2003.
