Cameron, an Australian-American actress and voiceover artist, currently resides in New York City, having previously lived in Sydney, Australia.
Growing up in Sydney, Cameron was first introduced to the world of drama at the age of 14, when she joined the drama club and discovered the thrill of performing in front of an audience. Three years later, she relocated to Texas, where she attended drama school and subsequently co-founded an experimental theater company with fellow SMU graduates.
In the 1980s, Cameron returned to New York and immersed herself in the city's burgeoning experimental theater scene. However, the devastating impact of the AIDS Epidemic, which claimed the lives of many talented friends, ultimately led her to return to Australia in the late 1980s. She spent time driving thousands of kilometers across the continent, using the journey as a means of healing her broken heart.
Following her time in Australia, Cameron embarked on a grand tour of the continent, driving an ancient Holden station wagon nicknamed Bessie without air conditioning.
Upon her return to the United States, Cameron resumed her work in regional theater, taking on a range of roles, including Shirley Valentine and Judith Bliss in Noel Coward's Hay Fever. Interspersed with her acting career were several road trips to Tuscany and Turkey, where she navigated blistering summer temperatures without air conditioning.
After a two-decade period of caretaking a beloved aunt with sudden onset dementia, Cameron finally returned to New York. She continues to work with individuals suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia, and wishes she had known then what she knows now, which is that Alzheimer's is a treatable condition that can be reversible.
