Bugra Gulsoy is a Turkish actor, director, and screenwriter born on February 22, 1982, in Ankara, Turkey. He spent his childhood in Ankara and attended primary and middle school there. In the year 2000, Gulsoy moved to Cyprus to study architecture at the Eastern Mediterranean University.
Gulsoy's first stage experience was at the age of 13, and his acting career began when he appeared in the Eugene Ionesco play, 'Exit the King', under the 'Open Theatre', in Cyprus. After graduating from school as an architect, he continued to live in Cyprus, where he worked at the 'Cyprus National Theatre'.
In his free time, Gulsoy pursued his interests in writing and directing, creating two experimental films, 'Insan: Uçleme (Human: Trilogy)' and 'Tepetaklak (Upside Down)', which won multiple awards at national and international film festivals. He also studied Movie Production under the 'United Nations Development Project (UNDP)' and directed and starred in his first fictional film, 'Mutlu Son (Happy End)', which won second place in the UNDP competition.
Bugra Gulsoy is a founder of the 'Cyprus Film Association' and acts as Project Designer at the 'Cyprus International Short Film Festival'. In 2008, he moved to Istanbul to shoot his first TV show, 'Hepimiz Birimiz Için', which aired on Kanal D.
Gulsoy's success on the show led to appearances in many more successful TV shows, including 'Unutulmaz', 'Fatmagul'un Suçu Ne?', 'Kuzey Guney', 'Eski Hikaye', 'Bana Artik Hicran De', and 'Ask Yeniden'. His performances in internationally watched TV hits like 'Fatmagul'un Suçu Ne?' and 'Kuzey Guney' brought him fame on a global level, especially in Turkey and the Middle Eastern region.
Alongside his TV projects, Gulsoy has appeared in several movies, including 'Gunesi Gordum', 'Golgeler vie Suretler', and 'Guzel Gunler Gorecegiz', for which he won an award at the 'Altin Portakal Film Festival'. In 2015, he starred in the TV show 'Ask Yeniden', a romantic comedy, and later in the high-grossing hit comedy movie 'Gorumce'.
Gulsoy co-founded the movie and theatre production company 'GET' with Serhat Teoman and Emre Erkan. He wrote and directed the play 'Pragma', which gained recognition and was played sold out in the 2012-2013 season. In 2016, Gulsoy and Serhat Teoman directed the 'GET' produced movie 'Mahalle', in which Gulsoy also starred as 'Sabri'. The movie premiered in the '36th International Istanbul Film Festival'.
