Biography

Bruce, a talented individual, hailed from the challenging Monsall Estate in Manchester, where his father worked as a steel erector and his mother labored in factories, pressing clothes. Despite the difficulties he faced, Bruce pursued his passion for drama, attending night school while simultaneously working multiple jobs, including those of a boiler maker, pipe fitter, and part-time fireman. In his free time, he honed his comedic skills as part of a comedy double act, "Clark and Jones," performing on the Northern club circuit.

Bruce's big break came when he landed roles in two commercials directed by the renowned Ken Loach. This exposure led to an audition for the film "Raining Stones," where he was initially told that all the main parts had been cast. However, he was subsequently called back for multiple auditions, ultimately securing a lead cameo in the film "Full Monty." This performance caught the attention of casting directors, who subsequently cast him as the iconic character Les Battersby in the popular British soap opera "Coronation Street."

Bruce's personal life has been marked by two marriages, with both relationships resulting in children. He currently resides near Stockport, surrounded by his loved ones.
