Brion James, a renowned actor, was born on February 20, 1945, in Redlands, California, to IdaMae (Buckelew) and Jimmy James. Shortly after his birth, his family relocated to Beaumont, California, situated between Los Angeles and Palm Springs, where his parents, Jimmy and IdaMae, built and operated a movie theater. This unique setting allowed Brion to witness stars like Gene Autry occasionally visiting the theater.
After graduating from Beaumont High School in 1962, Brion pursued higher education at San Diego State University, majoring in theater arts. Upon completing his studies, he moved to New York to hone his acting skills while taking up various jobs to support himself during the early years of his career. Additionally, he served in the National Guard and shared his military experience with fellow actor Tim Thomerson.
Throughout his illustrious career, spanning over 100 television roles and 120+ film appearances, Brion James is most notably recognized for his portrayals of Leon in Blade Runner (1982),Gen. Munro in The Fifth Element (1997),Big Teddy in Cabin Boy (1994),Max Jenke in House III: The Horror Show (1989),and many other memorable roles in films such as Southern Comfort (1981),The Player (1992),Tango & Cash (1989),48 Hrs.
