Brent's journey as an actor began at university, where he made his debut in the theatre. His initial foray into acting on camera was through commercial television, with a string of half a dozen commercials under his belt. As he honed his craft, he dedicated himself to learning the intricacies of acting, including studies in voice, movement, sense, and affective memory work, as well as the technical requirements for on-camera performances.
Throughout this period, Brent continued to audition and work in film, soaking up knowledge and expertise from industry professionals like Lou Gosset Jr., Bob Hoskins, Catherine Mary Stewart, Rob Lowe, and Michael Madison. This wealth of experience and mentorship laid the groundwork for his future success.
Around the same time, Brent and his acting partner Gilles Plouffe co-founded the "Actors Workshop" with the support of ACTRA. The workshop aimed to provide a space where actors could refine their craft through scene work, monologues, comedy acting, and other exercises, as well as workshop local material and receive guidance from special guest directors.
After four years, Brent passed the reins of the workshop to others, allowing him to pursue new opportunities. He traveled to New York City to study with the renowned John Strasberg, an experience that has already yielded significant benefits and continues to this day.
When not acting, Brent can be found spending quality time with his loving wife Janet and their two adorable children, Kaitlyn and Connor. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, staying fit, and exploring the great outdoors. He also appreciates working with his hands, particularly with wood, and making time for his favorite pastime: watching a great film.
