Boris Dvornik's early life was marked by a strong connection to the arts, as he began taking part in plays for children at the tender age of eight. This early exposure to the world of acting laid the foundation for a lifelong passion that would eventually become his career.
As he entered his high school days, Dvornik initially pursued a trade as an electrician, but soon discovered his true calling in the world of acting. This decision marked a significant turning point in his life, as he began to dedicate himself fully to his craft.
Following his graduation from the National Acting School in Novi Sad, Dvornik went on to enroll in the Drama Academy in Zagreb. It was during his first year at the academy that he made his film debut in the 1960 movie "The Ninth Circle", which proved to be an instant success.
Dvornik's second film, "Martin u oblacima", showcased his ability to excel in comedic roles, and he soon became one of the most beloved and respected actors in former Yugoslavia. Alongside fellow acting legends such as Bata Zivojinovic, Milena Dravic, and Ljubisa Samardzic, Dvornik was a household name and a staple of the Yugoslav and Croatian film and television industries.
The 1970s saw Dvornik reach the zenith of his popularity, thanks in part to his iconic role in the humorous cult series "Malo misto" and other light-hearted pieces. Despite remaining one of the most prolific actors in the history of Yugoslav and Croatian cinema and television, Dvornik's work in the 1980s was largely confined to the Croatian National Theatre in Split.
In 1992, Dvornik briefly flirted with politics, thanks to his friendship with Antun Vrdoljak. However, this foray into politics was short-lived, and he soon returned to his first love: acting.
Today, Dvornik is married with a daughter and four grandchildren. His sons, Dean Dvornik and Dino Dvornik, have followed in their father's footsteps and have become major pop stars in Croatia, often making cameo appearances in their father's films.
