Bonnie Francesca Wright, born on February 17, 1991, is the daughter of jewelers Gary Wright and Sheila Teague. Her acting career began with a small cameo role as Ginny Weasley in the 2001 film "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," at the suggestion of her older brother Lewis, who believed she resembled Ginny.
Bonnie's role in the first film was a brief appearance, but she had a larger part in the 2002 sequel "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." Following the first Potter film, she appeared in the Hallmark television movie "Stranded" in 2002, playing the role of Young Sarah Robinson.
In 2004, Bonnie was cast in the BBC TV film "Agatha Christie: A Life in Pictures," portraying Young Agatha, and later reprised her role as Ginny Weasley in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." She continued to play Ginny in subsequent Potter films, including "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," where her character's role evolved to become a supporting love interest for Harry.
In addition to her work on the Harry Potter franchise, Bonnie guest-voiced for Disney's TV series "The Replacements" in 2006, playing the role of Vanessa, and voiced Ginny for the video games "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" in 2007 and 2009, respectively.
While filming for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" in 2010, Bonnie was cast in the feature-length film "Geography of the Heart," playing the role of Mia, and shot her segment in London in December 2009. During this time, she was also attending the London College of Communication to study film.
In 2011, Bonnie starred in the film "After the Dark," alongside James D'Arcy, Daryl Sabara, and her Harry Potter co-star Freddie Stroma. She also wrote and directed a short film for school, "Separate We Come, Separate We Go," which starred Potter co-star David Thewlis in 2012.
