Bobby Harwell, born on August 22, 1931, in Nashville, Arkansas, was destined for adventure from a young age. At 18, he and his brother Bill embarked on a thrilling journey aboard a Swedish freighter bound for India. However, their voyage took an unexpected turn when the ship was forced to make an emergency stop in Bermuda due to a smoldering fire in the hold. Undaunted, Bobby and Bill joined forces with their trapped First Mate to attempt a daring rescue. Their bravery and quick thinking ultimately saved the First Mate's life.
Their heroic act, however, had unintended consequences. Without proper papers, the brothers found themselves considered illegals in India, and their pleas for help from the US Embassy fell on deaf ears. It was only through the kindness of a British agent, who was also the representative of the Swedish ship they had recently left, that their problem was resolved.
Bobby's adventures continued to unfold in Korea, where he served in a combat medical group, drawing parallels with the iconic TV series MASH. After his military service, he utilized the GI Bill to graduate Cum Laude from the University of Arkansas. With his free spirit and eclectic personality, he embarked on a diverse array of careers, including commercial fishing, hanging draperies, driving taxis, working in a skid row blood bank, and teaching elementary school in a Miami ghetto.
In his later years, Bobby transitioned to the world of modeling, landing his first print job in the early 1980s. He soon graduated to TV commercials and small roles in film and television. At the remarkable age of 78, Bobby published his debut novel, "Flawed," a gripping tale that weaves together the glamour of Hollywood with themes of incest, murder, and betrayal.
