Biography

Michael David Fuller, better known by his stage name Blaze Foley, was a prolific songwriter who surrounded himself with a collective of like-minded artists who prided themselves on their rebellious and unconventional approach to music. This eclectic group of songwriters, who operated outside the mainstream music industry, drew inspiration from a range of influences, including the likes of Willie, Jerry Jeff, Steve Fromholt, Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett, and Robert Earl Keen.

At the heart of this creative collective was the enigmatic and troubled Townes Van Zandt, a songwriter whose tortured soul and artistic genius left an indelible mark on those who knew him. Van Zandt's music was a constant source of inspiration for Foley and his cohorts, and his unconventional lifestyle and unyielding commitment to his artistic vision served as a beacon for their own creative endeavors.

Despite his untimely death on February 1, 1989, at the age of 39, Blaze Foley's legacy has continued to grow and evolve over the years. Seventeen years after his passing, Foley's music and influence remain as strong as ever, a testament to the enduring power of his art and the lasting impact he had on the world of music.
