Blair is a renowned composer with a prolific career spanning over 15 years, having created over 200 scores for film, theatre, and television. His impressive client list includes esteemed organizations such as The English National Ballet and The Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as major networks like BBC, SKY, and ITV.
Throughout his career, Blair has received numerous accolades, including a BAFTA nomination and a prestigious Camille Award for Best TV Score. His work has been featured in a range of successful projects, including the acclaimed 8-part Doctor Who spin-off, Class, ITV's international hit show McDonald & Dodds, and SKY's The Amazing Mr Blunden.
Blair's collaboration with Russell T Davies on the drama Nolly, starring Helena Bonham Carter, resulted in a BAFTA nomination and a win at the Camille Awards. This partnership led to the creation of Men Up, a BBC film executive-produced by Russell, which premiered in December 2023.
In addition to his work in television, Blair has also composed scores for film, including After The Flood, a six-part thriller that aired to great success on ITV1/Britbox in early 2024, and Doctor Jekyll, a new Hammer Horror film starring Eddie Izzard, which was released worldwide in 2024 and received a nomination for Best Feature Film Score in the Music & Sound Awards 2024.
Blair's classical training began at an early age, and he went on to earn a BA (Hons) in Music from Durham University and an MA in Composition for Film and Television from Bristol University. He has also been recognized for his work as a musical arranger, having contributed to shows such as Doctor Who and David Attenborough's Life Story.
As a respected member of the film and television industry, Blair is a full voting member of BAFTA and frequently judges awards such as The Ivors and BIFAs. His work has been recognized with multiple nominations, including double nominations for Best Original TV Score and Best Opening Titles in the Music & Sound Awards for both McDonald & Dodds and The Amazing Mr Blunden. In 2023, Nolly was also nominated for a Music & Sound Award for Best Original TV Score and won Best Soundtrack at the World Entertainment Awards.
