Bipasha Basu's life took an unexpected turn when she recoiled and passed out while dissecting a rat, thus ending her dream of becoming a medical professional. This unexpected event led her to switch from the science faculty to commerce, where she acquired a degree and initially planned to become a chartered accountant. However, fate had other plans, and at just 17 years old, she was crowned the Ford Supermodel of the World.
Born on January 7th, 1979, in New Delhi, Bipasha was raised in a Hindu Bengali family along with her two sisters, Bidisha and Bijoyeta. Despite being considered "ugly" in her younger years due to her dark complexion, her name, which means "Dark Deep Desire," is also the name of a river. Her family relocated to Calcutta, where she grew up speaking Hindi, English, and Bengali fluently.
After her triumph as the Ford Supermodel, she went on to be crowned Miss Vivacious, sponsored by Tulips. This victory marked the beginning of her journey in the entertainment industry.
Bipasha made her Bollywood debut in 2001 with the film Ajnabee, followed by Raaz, Jism, No Entry, Phir Hera Pheri, Corporate, and Dhoom 2, all of which did reasonably well at the box office. Her performance in these films solidified her position as a leading lady and a daring actress. Additionally, she received credit as a playback singer in Dhoom 2.
Apart from her film career, Bipasha has also appeared in two music videos and served as a judge in the 2004 Femina Miss India beauty pageant.
