Billy Samoa Saleebey, a graduate of the esteemed Loyola Marymount University Film School in Los Angeles, boasts an impressive portfolio of short films, including Bathroom Boy, Brain Power, and Let Go, which garnered critical acclaim.
Upon completing his studies in 2000, Saleebey embarked on a career with Celestial Entertainment, the pioneering company behind the first-ever Chinese/USA co-production, Restless. He then transitioned into the realm of documentary filmmaking, working on historical documentaries for the History Channel.
In late 2001, Saleebey gained global experience as an Associate Producer at London International Television, where he oversaw the production of internationally broadcast programming that reached over 80 million viewers across 40 countries. His responsibilities included creating content and managing production teams.
Upon returning to the United States, Saleebey joined CBS Television in Hollywood, working on the acclaimed daytime shows The Young & the Restless and The Bold & the Beautiful. He later relocated to the KCET Lot, where he collaborated with producer Gil Cates, responsible for the Academy Awards. During this period, he worked on the feature film Collected Stories, an adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Donald Margulies, and Calendar Girls, a British box-office hit directed by Nigel Cole.
In 2002, Saleebey was entrusted with producing his first feature-length film, Perfectly Still, directed by Mark Linhart. He then began writing his first feature, Rolling, which was shot in 2005 and completed in 2006. Currently, Saleebey is in development on his next feature, slated for production in 2007.
