Billy Edwards, a lightweight boxer of note, was born in England, yet it was in America that he achieved his most remarkable successes, serving as the American lightweight champion during the late 1860s and early 1870s. Following his retirement from the world of professional boxing, Edwards remained an active and influential figure in the sport, transitioning to a career as a trainer and writer. His impressive training skills were put to good use when he worked with the renowned John L. Sullivan, preparing him for several high-stakes fights. Additionally, Edwards made a name for himself as a writer, documenting his experiences and insights on the sport of boxing.
