Biography

Billie Bird Sellen, a talented vaudeville comedienne, was discovered at the tender age of eight years old in an orphanage. She was subsequently hired to tour the theater circuits with a renowned vaudeville troupe.

As a testament to her enduring popularity, Bird continued to entertain audiences for decades to come. During the tumultuous years of the Vietnam War, she embarked on 12 USO tours, bringing joy and laughter to the troops stationed in the war zone throughout the 1960s and 1970s.

Bird's impressive acting career spanned multiple decades, with her most recent appearance being in the 1995 film "Jury Duty," starring the charismatic Pauly Shore. Some of her other notable performances include roles in "Dennis the Menace" (1993) and "Home Alone" (1990).

One of her most iconic film appearances was in the 1968 classic "The Odd Couple," showcasing her versatility as a comedic actress. Her last notable role was a cameo in the short-lived television comedy "George & Leo" (1997),alongside the esteemed Judd Hirsch and Bob Newhart.

Throughout her illustrious career, Bird was a regular fixture on television, starring in the sitcom "Dear John" from 1988 to 1992. She also made memorable appearances in a series of productions, including "Ernest Saves Christmas" (1988) and "Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol" (1987),showcasing her endearing portrayal of a cheerful and sassy senior citizen.
