Bikas Mishra, a renowned writer-director, made a remarkable debut with his feature film "Chauranga", which premiered on January 8, 2016. This critically acclaimed film garnered the Grand Jury Prize at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and was declared the Best Indian Feature at the prestigious Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI).
The screenplay of "Chauranga" was meticulously developed at the NFDC Screenwriters' Lab, in collaboration with the Locarno Film Festival and ScriptStation of Berlin Talents. The film received a development grant from the Göteborg International Film Festival in Sweden.
Bikas Mishra is a distinguished fellow of Binger FilmLab, Amsterdam, and has also received the prestigious Hubert Bals Fund for script development from the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
His short film "Naach Ganesh" (Dance of Ganesha) has traveled extensively to prominent festivals worldwide, including Clermont Ferrand (France),Rotterdam (The Netherlands),Busan (South Korea),and IFFLA (Los Angeles).
Bikas holds a master's degree in Mass Communication from the Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia, New Delhi. Prior to his successful filmmaking career, he worked as a special Features show producer for CNBC with Network18.
Throughout his career, Bikas has served on the selection committees of the Mumbai Film Festival and has been invited to be a part of the critic's juries of the International Film Festival of Kerala and Osian's Cinefan Film Festival, New Delhi. In 2012, he was honored to be a part of the Visionary Jury of Critics Week at the Cannes Film Festival.
