Born into a family of musicians, [Name] was surrounded by music from a young age. She began singing in a girls' choir organized by Burton Kurth and later studied voice with renowned instructors such as Mignon Duke Gidy, Avis Phillips, and Phylis Inglis. She also studied piano with Phyllis Schuldt.
As a teenager, [Name] sang leading roles in musicals at Richmond High School and appeared in numerous productions at Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) throughout the 1940s and 1950s. She is best remembered for her iconic role as Mrs. Anna in The King and I.
In the 1940s, [Name] began her radio career with a CBC Vancouver light classical series, followed by regular appearances on the CBC's Leicester Square to Broadway and solo, recital, and folksong performances on the BBC. She also made many British Columbia school broadcasts and appeared on CBC TV in various productions.
As a performer, [Name] has appeared in numerous productions with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Opera, and various other companies throughout Canada. She has also performed in musical comedy and has been a part of several touring productions, including One Hundred Years of Musical Comedy and Fiddler on the Roof.
In addition to her stage work, [Name] has had a successful career in film, appearing in over 40 Canadian and US movies, including feature films and television productions.
