Biography

Bertrand Tavernier, a cinematic luminary, was the offspring of Geneviève Dumond, his mother, and René Tavernier, his father, a multifaceted individual who held the esteemed positions of publicist, writer, and president of the French PEN club.

As a law student, Tavernier's intellectual pursuits took an unexpected turn, as he found himself drawn to the realm of film criticism, ultimately preferring the art of writing about cinema to the study of law.

In addition to his writing endeavors, Tavernier also penned a few books that delved into the world of American movies, further solidifying his reputation as a scholar of the silver screen.

The culmination of his creative endeavors came with the release of his debut film, which garnered widespread critical acclaim in France and abroad, thereby cementing his status as a renowned filmmaker and securing his place within the pantheon of cinematic greats.
