As a founding member of Joy Division, New Order, and Electronic, Sumner played a pivotal role in shaping the Manchester music scene, which would later give rise to the "Madchester" movement of the late 1980s.
Sumner's illustrious career began with his work as guitarist and keyboardist for Joy Division, before the band's lead singer, Ian Curtis, tragically passed away.
